St. George's Episcopal School

With a rich tradition alongside a vibrant forward-looking vision, St. George’s Episcopal School approaches  its 60th year, grounded in purposeful, play-based learning and a thoughtfully designed nature playground.  Nestled in the Austin Cherrywood neighborhood, the school’s outdoor space invites exploration at every  turn. There is a common area showcasing a rain-fed fountain and butterfly garden into a natural  landscape complete with a winding creek, climbing logs, shaded pergolas, and native plants. It is a place  where curiosity leads to learning. 

Founded in 1966, St. George’s is Austin’s oldest continuously operating preschool, serving children from six  months to four years old. Its mission remains rooted in the belief that young children learn best through  meaningful, intentional play. 

At St. George’s, play is purposeful. Teachers guide children through experiences that build early academic  and social foundations while honoring each child’s developmental pace. A strong framework ensures  growth across all areas, fostering confidence, creativity, and a love of learning. 

Supported by St. George’s Episcopal Church, the program weaves in values of love, community, and care for  the natural world. Weekly chapel and storytelling nurture imagination, resilience, and a sense of belonging.  As it enters its sixth decade, St. George’s remains dedicated to nurturing joyful, curious learners well  prepared for school and for life.
